What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into your jawbone. They provide a strong and stable foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The dental implant consists of three parts: the implant itself, the abutment, and the dental crown. The implant itself serves as the “root” of your new tooth, and it supports a crown or bridge on top of it, depending on how many teeth are missing.
Most dental implants are made of titanium, which is a biocompatible material that fuses with your jawbone. Once implants are placed, they’ll look and act just like your natural teeth. In fact, they’re even stronger than anatomical teeth.
